the Rotary Club of Lancaster- McCaskey High School Mentor Program

Rich Wolman, co-founder of Compass Real Estate, LLC established the Rotary Club of Lancaster's "McCaskey High School Mentor Program” after learning about the high percentage of poverty and homelessness in Lancaster City, Pennsylvania, and the high dropout rate of students in the vocational training program at McCaskey High School, the only high school in Lancaster City.

Rich envisioned having his fellow Rotary Club members and other community leaders serve as mentors and role-models to these at-risk students to help ensure that they graduate from the local high school and proceed to higher education or become gainfully-employed, thereby breaking the chains of homelessness and poverty in the community.

Rich has led this Mentor Program with many dedicated mentors for nearly 10 years. It has achieved some remarkable results and was featured on the front headlines of the local newspaper for its impact in changing lives. To honor of the success of the Mentor Program, an anonymous donor established an endowed scholarship at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology for selected student graduates from the Mentor Program to help further realize the Mentor Program goals.

Rich was honored to receive Lancaster Newspaper’s “Red Rose” Award and Rotary International’s “Service Above Self” Award for his efforts with the Mentor Program and the impact it has had on our community.
